Happy Birthday to the Green Leaf Café

The Green Leaf Café in Horden Welfare Park, celebrated its second birthday in style by offering customers a free cup of tea and piece of cake on Friday 29th June 2007.

The café, which opened in June 2005, is based in the old Ambulance House building and was renovated as part of the refurbishment of the park led by Horden Parish Council.

Café manager Lisa Bradley, from Horden, says: “The café has really taken off.  It’s great to see that not only does it provide vital refreshments for families visiting the park, it also provides a meeting place for local residents.”

The café, which is run as a social enterprise by Acumen Development Trust, has increased in popularity over the two years with favourites including the hot daily specials and the ice cream machine which is very popular with children.
