Acumen Consults with the Community

Hundreds of East Durham Residents were consulted at a Community Fair held at Peterlee Leisure Centre this week.  The residents were also given the opportunity to find out about the help and support on offer within their local community, to access learning, training and to move into work, whilst taking part in the free activities on offer including reflexology and arts and crafts.

Acumen Development Trust, with funding from the Neighbourhood Renewal Fund, and organisations including Connexions, Next Step, Pathfinders, the Police, Street Wardens and Durham Deafened Support were there to chat to the public.

Acumen also arranged free arts and crafts, including card making, sand art and Chinese arts and crafts, plus free complementary therapies, including hoppi ear candles, reiki, Indian head massage and auricular therapy.

Jan Embleton of Acumen said: “As well as talking to people about the services available in their local community to help them to progress, we were also able to find out what activities they would like to see in their area in the future.”
