Villagers Clean Up Haswell and Haswell Plough
Villagers of all ages from Haswell and Haswell Plough, County Durham, met today (Monday 28th January) to join in ‘The Big Clean Up Event’ in a bid to tidy up their area. The day was organised by The Lisa Dixon Centre in partnership with Acumen Development Trust, Haswell Children’s Centre and District of Easington Council.
The event included an appearance from Tidy Ted, Acumen’s ELE the Elephant, litter picking and a general clean up of the area.
Joanne Cook, Community Engagement Worker from Acumen, said: “As well as having fun, the day encouraged residents to clean up and take pride in their community and raised awareness of the effort involved in keeping the villages clean and tidy.”
